What I'm Looking Forward Too

Hello again. It's been a while since my last blog post, but now that exams are over I have so much more time to blog! I have big dreams for this blog and I've got quite a few exciting things coming up, so I thought I'd write a post about what I'm looking forward to, at least until the end of the year!

I know I already addressed this in my introduction, but I'm looking forward to concentrating on my blog over the second half of the year. My posts will be more frequent and better quality. I also want my content to be natural and personal. There are thousands of bloggers in the industry now, but I truly believe there's a space for everyone. I would love to get involved in the blogging community, too.

I must confess that I'm not the biggest fan of summer, but I'm going to try and make the most of it this year! My summer is going to be pretty long, so I'm looking forward to days out with my family, good times with my friends, and relaxing in the (hopefully!) nice weather.

Holiday with the girls!

I've made some really good friends over the last couple of years, and to celebrate the end of college a few of my friends & I are going to Tenerife at the end of the summer! I'm not much of a party girl, but I'm looking forward to having a bit of fun and a nice holiday. Plus, I can make the most of the sales that are on right now!

Spending time with people I love

I'm really looking forward to having more of a relaxed approach to the end of the year. I really want to spend time with my family and let them know how much I care. The same goes for my friends, I want to have fun and spend time with good people. Who knows, maybe I could make some friends through blogging by the end of the year!

Figuring out where I want to go

The next chapter of my life is pretty scary because I'm no longer in full time education. However, I'm taking a gap year to figure out what I want to do. I'm aiming to find an apprenticeship, but for now I just want to take my time, blog, clear my mind and work for a year before jumping into something I don't want to do!

Now that I've got things to look forward too, I feel pretty good about the near future. You never know what life my bring, so it's important to take each day as it comes, as well as setting goals and dreams.

What are you looking forward too for the second half of the year?

Spring Wishlist: River Island

River Island has to be my favourite shop this spring. They have so many gorgeous peices that really capture this season's trends - I may have to write a second post! Hut for now, here are some of my favourite picks from River Island...

Firstly, this black burnout floral print duster coat (£55) looks so easy to mix and match thanks to it being black and white. This time of year is perfect or peplum, frills and all the blouses, therefore this White soft peplum t -shirt (£16) is a lovely girly take on a basic white t-shirt - just throw on some skinny jeans like the Blue Amelie ripped super skinny jeans (£42) and your good to go. This White 'vivre' print fitted t-shirt (£16) is also different from a plain white t-shirt, and the slogan translates to 'The joy of living' which is so positive. Going back to blouses, this Black floral frill bib blouse (£26) - is perfect, I could really imagine it with black skinny jeans and black shoes or a darker take on spring.

However, if you want to embrace the light, pastel colours this season, this Pink floral tie cuff blazer (£58) truly captures the colours and prints of spring. Also, how beautiful is this Cream floral print mini skirt (£30)? It could even be worn throughout summer because the floral print is quite bright.

A couple more items in this wishlist include these gorgeous Beige stud block heel sandals (£45). These sandals are so cool and the colour is really versatile. Lastly, no wishlist from me would be complete without a bit of green (#redhead), so these Light green tapered trousers  are perfect for smart/casual days.

What are your favourite trends this spring? Look out for another spring wishlist soon as we slowly transition to the warmer side of the season

P.S: After I writing this I can literally picture Miranda Priestley in my head...

Beauty Wishlist

Seeing as it is officially Spring, I thought I would celebrate the new season with a new beauty wishlist. To go with the Spring theme, this wishlist is full of soft colours and more focus on lighter, more natural make up. I hope you enjoy!
The first thing you're drawn to is most likely the gorgeous foreshadow palette in the middle. This is one of the Smashbox Covershot eyeshadow palettes, in collaboration with the stunning Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars star). This palette is called 'Soft Light' and it contains lovely shimmery shades for easy, everyday looks with a hint of shimmer to make the eyes pop.

There are a couple more palettes in this wishlist. L'Oreal Paris have recently released a whole new collection of products for there Infallible range. The one I'm excited about the most is the Infallible Paint Blush Palette. This looks like such a good range of shades and it's rare to find blush palettes in the drugstore. Another palette I have my eye on this the Barry M Illuminating Highlighting Palette, it looks so pretty and the shades are perfect - Iced Pink, Frosty and Gilded Bronze. Cream . The drugstore has some gorgeous highlighter palettes - check out Sleek and Lottie London when you're next in Superdrug! But since I clearly can't get enough highlighter in my life, the Barry M looks like a great palette for a healthy, spring-inspired glow.

Moving onto single products, another new release from L'oreal is their Infallible Lip Paints. This pretty nude pink, in Hollywood Beige is the perfect matte pink for Spring. One other launch I'm very excited about is the new Benefit blusher- Galifornia. This described as a 'sunny warm pink blusher' which sounds amazing for Spring and Summer, and the packaging is amazing as well.

Lastly, we have a drugstore fragrance. I used to use the 'So...' body sprays all the time when I was younger. However, I was instantly drawn to their new fragrances because they look so sophisticated The one in this wishlist is 'Sheer Illusion' - with notes of mandarin & bergamot, rose and jasmine, and a creamy sandalwood base. It just sounds so nice and floral for Spring.

What have you got your eye on at the moment? Is there anything inspired by Spring?

Top 5 Feel-good Films

There is no better time than the weekend to enjoy your favourite films. Here is a list of my top 5 feel good films (or film series!). A lot of these may be very predictable but I love them anyway.

Beauty and The Beast

This is my favourite Disney classic. With catchy music, a lovely story line and iconic characters, it never fails to put me in a good mood! I can't wait to see the live adaptation this month, it looks beautiful!

This has got to be one of my all-time favourites. I've seen it so many times but I love it every time. It's so funny.

High School Musical

I grew up with this film series. It may be cheesy but that's what makes it so good! Also, I pretty much know the songs off by heart.

Bridget Jones

These films are the best. They are hilarious and Bridget Jones is such a relatable character. I think the most recent film, Bridget Jones Baby, is my favourite out of the three.

The Devil Wears Prada

I've loved this film for years. It features some of my favourite things - New York and fashion. and it's a brilliant story about following your dreams. I love the cast (Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt...) as well.

Three Things

Here are three things that I've been enjoying lately!

Recently I've been practising mindfulness, and part of this involves mediation. I use the Calm app to mediate, it just takes ten minutes out of my day to sit, breathe and listen. It's really helped me focus, clear my mind and feel more calm in all aspects of my life. It's especially helpful as we approach exam season!

Embracing Spring

One of my goals for 2017 was to embrace all the seasons, and I'm definitely enjoying the start of Spring. Starting to see the blossom on the trees, daffodils growing and being able to dress for slightly warmer weather is so uplifting and it's so nice to focus on the present season. However, my excitement for summer is already starting to kick in - a holiday with the girls is already on the cards!

Being happy for others

Through practising mindfulness and self-love, I find it so much easier to connect and have a happy relationship with others. Being happy for people, their achievements and their passions is such warming and exciting feeling. Whether its a compliment, an act of kindness, or even just sitting with them and listening to what they have to say - the simplest things can mean so much.

My Favourite Brow Products

I am, by no means, an eyebrow expert but I do have my favourite products that I use on a daily basis. My brows have always been uneven, so I like to shape and define them but I will change how bold I want the shade depending on the look I want. Here are my go-to brow products!

My favourite brow pencil is the Goof Proof brown pencil by Benefit. Who doesn't have a Benefit brow product in their collection? I love this because the shape of the pencil is really easy to use, and it comes with a spoolie for shaping, blending and on-the-go touch ups. The whole product in general gives you so much control with how to shape and define your brows to suit you.

Secondly, this new Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder is so good for quickly filling in your brows and adding definition. Just shake the product and apply it onto your eyebrows, it's easy to build up colour depending on how bold you want your brows to be! The product stays in place all day and doesn't budge.

To make sure by eyebrows are extra secure, I have the Rimmel Brow This Way clear brow gel to set them in place. It's become a staple in my make up collection. However, to set my brows and add more colour I have the Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara. Both of these are very long-lasting and they don't break the bank either!

There are my favourite products. What I like is that I can mix and match what I use depending on how bold I want my brows to be that day. They are also all really quick and easy to use.

What are your favourite brow products?

Haul - Beauty and Lifestyle

This is a little collective haul of beauty and lifestyle items that I've collected over the last few weeks. It's been so long since I've written a haul post!

Starting with beauty, I've added a few little drugstore items to my make up collection. I've been needing a clear brow gel for ages so I picked up Brow This Way by Rimmel, it's so good for setting your brows into place, even on its own for more natural-looking brows. I also picked up a L'Oreal Perfection True March blusher in the shade 'Sandalwood Pink' which is such a nice and warm pop of colour on my cheeks. Lastly, as a break from matte liquid lipsticks, I purchased this gorgeous rosy nude lipstick from New Look in the shade 'Antique Rose' - a pretty shade and moisturising formula!

At the end of last month I bought a new phone (silver iPhone 6s), after needing a new phone for quite a while! With that being said, I had to get some cute new phone cases to decorate my phone. The two cases mentioned here are from Skinny Dip (available at Topshop). The sparkly lobster one is probably my favourite because it's so bright and unique, but the Queen Bee one is amazing to because of course it reminds me of Beyonce.

I'm in the process of redecorating my room and gradually collecting bits and pieces for it. The theme is very white and minimalist. As a lover of inspiring quotes, I purchased this cute cushion from Dunelm that says 'follow your dreams'. Then from New Look, I got this canvas that says 'and so the adventure begins'. This comes with magnets so you can add your own photos around the print for all the inspiration and memories you need.

Hope you enjoyed this short and sweet haul. What were your favourite items?

Current Favourites

Hope you're all having a wonderful week so far. In this post I'll be sharing my current beauty and lifestyle favourites. You might have seen some of them before.

I thought I'd switch things up and start with a lifestyle favourites. I am currently reading Bloom by Estée Lalonde - one of my favourite bloggers/youtubers, and one I'm sure you're familiar with, too! It's been really interesting to find out more about Estée's life before and outside of YouTube, from her childhood to her relationships to dealing with anxiety. Overall this is a very positive and inspiring book about Estée personal growth and how she has 'bloomed'. Another youtube related favourite is the Hungry Hands hand cream by Zoella Beauty. I got this for Christmas and I'm still working my way through it because its such a good size and a little goes a long way. I leave this on my bedside table and apply it every evening, and my hands feel so soft. The gingerbread scent is lovely, too.

Moving onto fragrance and I'm still loving Sweet Like Candy by Ariana Grande (full review here). The bottle is so gorgeous and the scent is lovely and sweet. With notes of marshmallow and blackberry, it really is sweet like candy. I use it on a very regular basis because it's perfect middle ground for days where I want more than an everyday body mist, but I don't want to use Chloe Love Story.

I've also been really enjoying using this vanilla lip balm from Boots Extracts. I would describe the consistency as very lightweight and buttery. It also smells delicious. This came in a set of three lip balms - the other two being strawberry and mango so I hope to enjoy them as much as this one.

Lastly, I may have added another Nyx Lip Lingerie to my little collection. This is the shade Ruffle Trim, which is a warm pink nude. It's such a gorgeous shade because no nude lipsticks are ever exactly the same.

What beauty products have you been enjoying lately? Also, are there any books or other lifestyle favourites?

8 Ways to Treat Yourself

Following my post about 10 ways to cheer yourself up, one of  my top ways to do so was treat yourself. As people are becoming more focused on themselves in society, we're realising the importance of taking care of ourselves, which helps us take care of others better, too. As long as you find a balance between taking care of yourself and being loving towards others, self love is by no means selfish. Here is a list of the simplest ways to treat yourself...

1. Sweet treats - chocolate, sweets, doughnuts, ice cream - whatever you fancy
2. Retail therapy - nothing screams 'treat yourself' like a little (or big!) shopping spree
3. Window shopping - can be just as therapeutic as the point above, have a browse and find some inspiration
4. Reading a book - take a break and escape from reality for a little while
5. Have a bath - Pop in a bath bomb (or whatever bath product of your choice) and relax
6. Watch a childhood or feel-good film - anything that makes you smile
7. Pizza - no explanation needed.
8. Have a pamper evening - cleanse, tone, moisturise, paint your nails and let go of any worries.

How do you like to treat yourself?

Topshop Lip Liners

I've been searching for some new drugstore lip liners for a while, and after hearing great things about Topshop lip liners I decided to try them out.

I purchased two lip liners from Topshop and I'm very impressed with them. The formula is so soft and creamy but really pigmented. It lasts for a long time as well. I always look for lip liners that I can wear with more than one specific lip product (a good way to save money!), so both of these shades can be worn with so many other products. However, they also look really nice on their own.

With more detail on the shades, the first shade is 'Beestung'. I would describe this as a warm pink colour. It's quite a deep pink but can still be worn as an everyday colour. The second shade is 'Ceramic' - a lovely pink/beige nude. It's that perfect nude shade that can go with so many other lip products. Here are some swatches

// Left - Ceramic, Right - Beestung //

Topshop make up has never failed to impress me so I'm very happy with these lip liners. I also adore the packaging - it's perfect for those flatlays!

Have you tried any Topshop make up products? What are your favourite drugstore lip liners?

Casual Winter to Spring Wishlist

The trends for Spring are definitely making their way into the shops. However, we're only in February and it stays cold for quite a while in the UK, so this is a time where Winter and Spring trends combine. With all that being taken into account, here is a little wishlist I put together for this time of year...

One of the biggest trends right now is embroidery. I love the black embroidered skirt from New Look, as well as the two pair of amazing shoes from Topshop (the boots) and Quiz (the trainers). Khaki is a colour that never goes away so I featured this cute t-shirt from Zara, plus the rose reminds me of Beauty and the Beast which I'm SO excited to see this Spring.

Slogans are also a regular trend and this cropped hoodie from H&M with 'empowered' on the front is giving me all the girl power/Beyonce/girl boss vibes. It would look so nice with high-waisted jeans and trainers. Also, the black slogan t-shirt with 'merci beaucoup' (River Island) on the front is cute for any casual outfit.

I included some softer, pastel colours in this wishlist because nothing says Spring like pastel colours! As a blogger, it's impossible to not include any rose gold - so I found this gorgeous backpack from New Look. The oversized shirt from River Island has a really nice pink and white geo print, and it looks so comfortable. On the other side of the wishlist is a light green hoodie, also from River Island, again another really comfortable piece with a Spring colour. Lastly, the super pretty top with bell sleeves is from Red Herring at Debenhams. It looks so girly and romantic, but can easily be made into a casual outfit with blue jeans and beige suede boots, take a look at the cut-out boots from River Island!

There really are some beautiful pieces on the high street right now, perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but I'm a huge fan of the embroidery trend. One of my goals this year was to embrace all of the seasons (i.e. not just Autumn), and it seems to be working.

Are you looking forward to Spring? What trends are you loving?

10 Ways To Cheer Yourself Up

Nobody is invincible and we all have bad days. But there are so many little ways to cheer yourself up and at least try to get on with your day. Here is a list of things I always turn to in order to cheer
myself up...

1. Listen to music

Music is is always there, for our happiest and saddest times. There's not a day where I don't listen to music, and it cheers me up so much. Put on songs that make you feel good and give you inspiration and confidence. Happy pop songs, songs that scream girl power, and chilled/badass R&B are often what I turn to if I want music to lift me up.

2. Have some coffee

Of course, coffee is always there to make you feel more awake, and I often treat myself to a coffee when I'm out. As long as you remember water is important, too!

3. Spend time with positive people

Talk to people, say yes if you get invited out somewhere, When we're in a bad mood we can often feel alone, so there's nothing better than spending time with friends, family or anyone else who makes you feel happy.

4. Treat yourself!

There are so many ways to treat yourself, but this time I mean really treat yourself and do some shopping. Get your girls together or have some time to yourself. Sometimes shopping can be the best way to cheer yourself up, don't be ashamed to admit it.

5. Have sometime to yourself

In contrast to my 3rd point, sometimes time to yourself is absolutely necessary. Relax, watch some Netflix or escape with a book. Take a walk. Take the time to process your feelings and soon you'll feel right as rain, ready to spend time with others. Just don't isolate yourself for too long!

6. Get on with your morning routine

When you wake up not feeling yourself, it can be easy to stay in slump and not get out of bed. Try to carry on with your routine but take it easy. Wake up, have some coffee and get ready for your day.

7. Create a vision board

This is a fantastic way to bring some creativity and inspiration back. It can be done in so many ways, too. Print out some pictures and create a board full of inspiration - memories, dream destinations, quotes - the list is endless. Social media outlets can be used as a virtual vision board, including Tumblr and Pinterest. You can even save posts on Instagram now, so can can create a vision board on there. Visualise your dreams, inspirations and what makes you happy.

8. Watch a feel-good movie

Sometimes nothing makes me happier than watching a Disney classic or a girly film I used to love (and still love!). It can make you feel like a kid again and help you escape reality for a little while.

9. Eat some fruit

As much as I love treating myself to something sweet like chocolate, too much of it can make me feel worse. Fruit is sweet and healthy, and sticking to your 5-a-day is good for your body. Fruit is so refreshing as well!

10. Remember everyone has bad days

Not everyone can feel 100% happy and positive all the time, we need bad days in order to appreciate the good ones. Accepting your feelings, letting them process and then taking time to cheer yourself up is so much healthier than bottling them up altogether.

What do you do to cheer yourself up?

Current Base Products

In the winter, when my skin is more dry, I like to have a base that makes my skin look dewy and awake. A healthy glow. It's also important for me to find products that are a good match for my pale skin which I prefer to embrace rather than mask. With that being said, I still like to contour to give some dimension to my face. This has been my go-to base routine for the last couple of months.

My primer of choice at the moment is the L'Oreal True Match Liquid Glow Illuminator (such a log name!). This product has multiple uses for same purpose - it can be used as a base/primer on your cheekbones, cupids bow and forehead, or mixed with foundation to illuminate the face and add a glow. I have the shade 'Icy Glow', which is icy pink colour targeted toward those with fair to medium skin. The finish is very light weight and so easy to blend, so don't be too scared by the word 'illuminate'! I have received compliments since wearing this primer, and I can notice a glow when i wear it. For £6.99, it's definitely worth trying out.

The L'Oreal theme continues my with my current favourite foundation. Last year, the True Match foundation range had a massive revamp, with 23 shades to suit all skin tones. I have so much respect for L'Oreal for creating such a diverse shade range, from porcelain to the darkest skin tones. My current shade is 1.C (the lightest shade) and the model for this shade is one of my favourite youtubers and fellow redhead 'MrsRosieBea'. It really is the perfect match for my fair skin, and the velvety formula blends effortlessly to create a flawless, almost natural base. There is no doubt that you'll find your ideal shade, especially for just £9.99!

I've mentioned this concealer so many times on this blog, so we'll keep this one pretty simple. The Naked Skin concealer by Urban Decay is my absolute favourite because it gives fantastic coverage that lasts all day without feeling heavy. I use the shade 'fair' which again is perfect for my skin tone and really brightens up my complexion. As its high end, it is on the more pricey side at £17,50. However, one tube of this lasts so long and the good quality makes it worth the money.

Lastly, for powder we go back to L'Oreal with the Infallible Matte Powder. In contrast to my glowy base, I like to use a a bit of mattifying primer to set everything in place. and even for a sheer amount of coverage. I'll mainly use it on the areas I applied my concealer and a lighter dusting of it where I applied foundation. Depending on how much you use, it won't hide the glow create by the previous three products.

There is my current base routine. I'm really happy with it because it creates a flawless, glowy, natural looking base to brighten up your skin during these winter months. These products have all become staples in my make up collection.

Have you tried any of these products? What do you use to create your perfect base?

Drugstore Favourites - Revolution Eyeshadow Palettes

Revolution is possibly the best drugstore beauty brand for eyeshadow palettes. The variety of palettes this brand has to offer is fantastic. As for the products themselves, the pigmentation is amazing. I currently have two revolution palettes in my collection...

The first one is an all-matte eyeshadow palette. This is the Ultra Eye Contour Light and Shade palette. If you haven't guessed from the packaging, the name and the shades, this is a dupe for the Kat Von D Shade and Light eyeshadow palette. I can't compare this directly because I don't own the Kat Von D palette, but so far I've really been enjoying the Revolution palette. I really like how the shades are separated into neutral, cool and warm shades because it makes it easy to create specific eyeshadow looks. The pigmentation is so good and therefore the product is really easy to blend.

The second eyeshadow palette is the Iconic Pro palette. I believe this is a dupe for the Smashbox Full Exposure palette. I love the warm tones of this palette, and its very satisfying to see a row of matte shades, and a row of shimmery shades. Using this palette, you can create countless looks with a warm undertone. so I get to carry a bit of my favourite season all year round. As I mentioned with the previous palette, the formula is very pigmented and easy to blend.

I would highly recommend Revolution if you're looking for affordable palettes that you can create a variety of looks with. I think they're so worth it.

What are your favourite drugstore eyeshadow palettes?
