Why I Love Blogging

A while ago I wrote a post about how to stay inspired with blogging. One of the tips I mentioned was to think about why you love to blog. With whatever hobby/job you have, I think it's so important to be passionate about it, especially if it's something that involves being creative. The reasons to why I blog are simple, and some of them are more meaningful. I keep these in mind every time I'm planning a post, or when I'm thinking of new ideas.

Morphe Palette Collection

Morphe are well known for their brushes and huge selection of palettes available. From eyes to blush to contour, their selection is endless. The pigmentation is amazing and their colours are gorgeous, so bound to find the perfect palette for you. I thought I'd show you the palettes I have in my collection...

The palettes I have are the 35O Nature Glow Palette and the 35K Colour Koffee palette. They both have 35 shades and are £22.50 each. They are definitely worth the money because you get such a wide selection of colours for just over £20. They are both very pigmented and you can create an endless amount of looks with them.

The biggest difference between these palette is obviously the colours. The 35O palette is very warm and inspired by colours of a sunset. It reminds of late summer and autumn, with lighter warm shades, oranges, lots of brown and a bit of burgundy. However, the 35K has more neutral and cool tones, inspired by colours of coffee. There is a selection of light shades, brown and some blue and grey toned shades. This palette would be great for everyday neutrals, and the overall colour palette reminds me of winter. The 35O is my favourite out of these palettes, but they are both stunning!

There is my little summary of Morphe palettes. As I said earlier, the selection is endless so I will leave the link here if you want to look at more Morphe palettes. Let me know if you have any Morphe palettes, or whether you've heard of them.

How I Stay Inspired With Blogging

With any passion, job or hobby, every once in a while it can be hard to stay inspired. Blogging is no exception. You've got to be consistent and original, so when you're not feeling very inspired it's pretty tough. Inspiration can come from anywhere. A place, a change of thought or a conversation can generate a ton of ideas. There are some practicals ways, as well as thoughts to keep in mind, that I use when I'm feeling uninspired. I hope these can help other bloggers too.

1. Think about why you love your passion. What made you start your blog in the first place? What do you love writing about - fashion, beauty, food, travel? Do you prefer writing, or photography, or both? Go back to basics and think about why you want to blog, and the how will come later.

2. Have a vision board. Whether it's a pinboard, a photo wall or a scrapbook, having a vision board full of things that make you feel inspired gives you something to look at every day. Your dream home, memories, your favourite quotes, fashion inspiration, just fill it up with what ever you want. Social media sites like Tumblr and Pinterest can be used to create an online vision board, my Tumblr is constantly changing! You can also save photos on instagram now and sort them into different collections, like a mini Pinterest.

4. Ask others for support. Send a tweet or an instagram post asking your followers what they would like to see. Have a chat to someone close to you, whether they're into blogging or not. Look for blog posts that are about post ideas. It's totally okay to ask for help if you're feeling uninspired. Just one spark can start a fire, and one conversation can lead to so many ideas.

5. Follow people/surround yourself with people who inspire you. Social media can be a nasty place, but it can also be an inspiring place, so always support other bloggers with kind messages and comments. Follow bloggers who have a real, positive influence on you. Read their blog posts and watch their videos. Seeing your favourite creators doing what they do best can be so inspiring, especially if you can see how passionate they are.

6. Keep up with what's going on. I'm not saying you have to write a post just because something is on trend, because if it's not for you that's completely okay. However, it's important to be involved with the blogging community. If there are any new products loads of people are raving about, or if there are issues that many bloggers are discussing, it could inspire you to write a blog post. Your blog must be original, but keeping up with the blogging world may help you be more inspired and consistent.

7. Don't lose ideas - write them down, work on them etc. I always write any blog ideas I have. Once they're gone, they might not come back! Sometimes you have to sit down and think about blog posts you want to write, and sometimes ideas can come out of the blue. Once you've created a list of ideas over time, you may feel inspired to write again. If your ideas are all over the place, with no specific posts in mind, simply writing a mind map of words/phrases is a good start.

Summer Wishlist: New Look

There are some lovely pieces in New Look at the moment, so I knew a wishlist would be coming soon. This wishlist is small, but it has items that look so fun to style. Some of them would also be summer basics for years to come, whereas a few are inspired by the trends this summer!

My style is very casual and basic, but also preppy and feminine. I love basic pieces that can also look really stylish, such as the white embroidered shirt, which could be worn with a skirt or jeans the perfect smart-casual outfit.

Stripes never go out of style, and there are quite a few stripy items in this wishlist! The wide leg cropped trousers are so stunning, they would look so good with a plain white t-shirt or crop top! I also love the stripy playsuits and the dress in the middle, just one of these could make an outfit. They would look so nice on holiday or any summer day/occasion. All you need are some sandals, a small bag and some sunnies!

Slogan t-shirts have been everywhere this season, so I had to include on in this post, the one in the top right corner says 'Lucky', and you could style this in so many ways. You could even style it with the pleated trousers below, I've also floral trousers everywhere this summer. I like that these ones are black because they would go with so many tops, but there are some bright red ones available if you want a pop of colour.

That rounds up my short but sweet summer wishlist. I'd love to know whether you like any of these items, and what you've enjoyed wearing this season!

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colour

This summer I really needed some lightweight, non-matte lipstick options. I wanted something that was easy to wear and moisturising. After wearing liquid lipsticks for so long, it was time to switch things up a bit. As much as I love them, I was wearing them too much and they started to feel uncomfortable during the warmer weather. The Revlon Ultra HD Lip Colours were just what I needed! They have become my favourite lip products this summer, keep reading to find out why.

4 Ways to Pick Yourself Up

We all have those days where we feel down and don't want to do anything. It can be so easy to slip into a negative mindset, but there are subtle thing you can do to pick yourself up and try to make the day a bit more positive.

1. Get ready - Feeling fresh and ready for the day can really lift your mood, even if your staying at home. Changing out of your PJs and into clean loungewear, and cleaning your face can wake you up. You could also put on some make up and paint your nails, anything to make you feel more put together!

2. Get outside - I'm an introvert, but I can feel so restless if I've been at home for too long. Spending time with nature is very beneficial - simply having some time in the garden, going out for a walk can feel so calming and refreshing. Getting out and about by yourself or with your loved ones can feel so nice.

3. Music - This is my favourite way to pick myself up. I have no musical talent, but nothing makes me happier than putting on my favourite music when I'm feeling down. Pick some tunes and chill out or have a little dance to your favourite music.

4. Smell the roses - Light a candle, spray some perfume or surround yourself with fresh flowers. A little burst of happiness can come from something that smells nice and fresh.

Rimmel London Insta Duo Contour Stick

Personally, one of the make up trends I've never got on board with is contouring. I always thought it wouldn't suit my face shape, or that I was to pale to try it. I also didn't get on with contouring palettes. If I wanted to contour, I just wanted something easy and fuss free.

Summer Primark Haul

I must admit that I'm not the best at summer shopping. I much prefer jumpers, jeans, boots and all the warm clothes of Autumn and Winter. However, it's summer now and I'm trying to embrace all the seasons this year, even if I do prefer one to the other. Life is about living in the present after all! I'm also going on holiday to Tenerife at the end of the summer, so that makes summer even more exciting. With that being said, I took myself to Primark to pick up some summer bargains.

8 Ways to Treat Yourself

Following my post about 10 ways to cheer yourself up, one of  my top ways to do so was treat yourself. As people are becoming more focused on themselves in society, we're realising the importance of taking care of ourselves, which helps us take care of others better, too. As long as you find a balance between taking care of yourself and being loving towards others, self love is by no means selfish. Here is a list of the simplest ways to treat yourself...

1. Sweet treats - chocolate, sweets, doughnuts, ice cream - whatever you fancy
2. Retail therapy - nothing screams 'treat yourself' like a little (or big!) shopping spree
3. Window shopping - can be just as therapeutic as the point above, have a browse and find some inspiration
4. Reading a book - take a break and escape from reality for a little while
5. Have a bath - Pop in a bath bomb (or whatever bath product of your choice) and relax
6. Watch a childhood or feel-good film - anything that makes you smile
7. Pizza - no explanation needed.
8. Have a pamper evening - cleanse, tone, moisturise, paint your nails and let go of any worries.

How do you like to treat yourself?

Topshop Lip Liners

I've been searching for some new drugstore lip liners for a while, and after hearing great things about Topshop lip liners I decided to try them out.

I purchased two lip liners from Topshop and I'm very impressed with them. The formula is so soft and creamy but really pigmented. It lasts for a long time as well. I always look for lip liners that I can wear with more than one specific lip product (a good way to save money!), so both of these shades can be worn with so many other products. However, they also look really nice on their own.

With more detail on the shades, the first shade is 'Beestung'. I would describe this as a warm pink colour. It's quite a deep pink but can still be worn as an everyday colour. The second shade is 'Ceramic' - a lovely pink/beige nude. It's that perfect nude shade that can go with so many other lip products. Here are some swatches

// Left - Ceramic, Right - Beestung //

Topshop make up has never failed to impress me so I'm very happy with these lip liners. I also adore the packaging - it's perfect for those flatlays!

Have you tried any Topshop make up products? What are your favourite drugstore lip liners?

Casual Winter to Spring Wishlist

The trends for Spring are definitely making their way into the shops. However, we're only in February and it stays cold for quite a while in the UK, so this is a time where Winter and Spring trends combine. With all that being taken into account, here is a little wishlist I put together for this time of year...

One of the biggest trends right now is embroidery. I love the black embroidered skirt from New Look, as well as the two pair of amazing shoes from Topshop (the boots) and Quiz (the trainers). Khaki is a colour that never goes away so I featured this cute t-shirt from Zara, plus the rose reminds me of Beauty and the Beast which I'm SO excited to see this Spring.

Slogans are also a regular trend and this cropped hoodie from H&M with 'empowered' on the front is giving me all the girl power/Beyonce/girl boss vibes. It would look so nice with high-waisted jeans and trainers. Also, the black slogan t-shirt with 'merci beaucoup' (River Island) on the front is cute for any casual outfit.

I included some softer, pastel colours in this wishlist because nothing says Spring like pastel colours! As a blogger, it's impossible to not include any rose gold - so I found this gorgeous backpack from New Look. The oversized shirt from River Island has a really nice pink and white geo print, and it looks so comfortable. On the other side of the wishlist is a light green hoodie, also from River Island, again another really comfortable piece with a Spring colour. Lastly, the super pretty top with bell sleeves is from Red Herring at Debenhams. It looks so girly and romantic, but can easily be made into a casual outfit with blue jeans and beige suede boots, take a look at the cut-out boots from River Island!

There really are some beautiful pieces on the high street right now, perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but I'm a huge fan of the embroidery trend. One of my goals this year was to embrace all of the seasons (i.e. not just Autumn), and it seems to be working.

Are you looking forward to Spring? What trends are you loving?

10 Ways To Cheer Yourself Up

Nobody is invincible and we all have bad days. But there are so many little ways to cheer yourself up and at least try to get on with your day. Here is a list of things I always turn to in order to cheer
myself up...

1. Listen to music

Music is is always there, for our happiest and saddest times. There's not a day where I don't listen to music, and it cheers me up so much. Put on songs that make you feel good and give you inspiration and confidence. Happy pop songs, songs that scream girl power, and chilled/badass R&B are often what I turn to if I want music to lift me up.

2. Have some coffee

Of course, coffee is always there to make you feel more awake, and I often treat myself to a coffee when I'm out. As long as you remember water is important, too!

3. Spend time with positive people

Talk to people, say yes if you get invited out somewhere, When we're in a bad mood we can often feel alone, so there's nothing better than spending time with friends, family or anyone else who makes you feel happy.

4. Treat yourself!

There are so many ways to treat yourself, but this time I mean really treat yourself and do some shopping. Get your girls together or have some time to yourself. Sometimes shopping can be the best way to cheer yourself up, don't be ashamed to admit it.

5. Have sometime to yourself

In contrast to my 3rd point, sometimes time to yourself is absolutely necessary. Relax, watch some Netflix or escape with a book. Take a walk. Take the time to process your feelings and soon you'll feel right as rain, ready to spend time with others. Just don't isolate yourself for too long!

6. Get on with your morning routine

When you wake up not feeling yourself, it can be easy to stay in slump and not get out of bed. Try to carry on with your routine but take it easy. Wake up, have some coffee and get ready for your day.

7. Create a vision board

This is a fantastic way to bring some creativity and inspiration back. It can be done in so many ways, too. Print out some pictures and create a board full of inspiration - memories, dream destinations, quotes - the list is endless. Social media outlets can be used as a virtual vision board, including Tumblr and Pinterest. You can even save posts on Instagram now, so can can create a vision board on there. Visualise your dreams, inspirations and what makes you happy.

8. Watch a feel-good movie

Sometimes nothing makes me happier than watching a Disney classic or a girly film I used to love (and still love!). It can make you feel like a kid again and help you escape reality for a little while.

9. Eat some fruit

As much as I love treating myself to something sweet like chocolate, too much of it can make me feel worse. Fruit is sweet and healthy, and sticking to your 5-a-day is good for your body. Fruit is so refreshing as well!

10. Remember everyone has bad days

Not everyone can feel 100% happy and positive all the time, we need bad days in order to appreciate the good ones. Accepting your feelings, letting them process and then taking time to cheer yourself up is so much healthier than bottling them up altogether.

What do you do to cheer yourself up?

Current Base Products

In the winter, when my skin is more dry, I like to have a base that makes my skin look dewy and awake. A healthy glow. It's also important for me to find products that are a good match for my pale skin which I prefer to embrace rather than mask. With that being said, I still like to contour to give some dimension to my face. This has been my go-to base routine for the last couple of months.

My primer of choice at the moment is the L'Oreal True Match Liquid Glow Illuminator (such a log name!). This product has multiple uses for same purpose - it can be used as a base/primer on your cheekbones, cupids bow and forehead, or mixed with foundation to illuminate the face and add a glow. I have the shade 'Icy Glow', which is icy pink colour targeted toward those with fair to medium skin. The finish is very light weight and so easy to blend, so don't be too scared by the word 'illuminate'! I have received compliments since wearing this primer, and I can notice a glow when i wear it. For £6.99, it's definitely worth trying out.

The L'Oreal theme continues my with my current favourite foundation. Last year, the True Match foundation range had a massive revamp, with 23 shades to suit all skin tones. I have so much respect for L'Oreal for creating such a diverse shade range, from porcelain to the darkest skin tones. My current shade is 1.C (the lightest shade) and the model for this shade is one of my favourite youtubers and fellow redhead 'MrsRosieBea'. It really is the perfect match for my fair skin, and the velvety formula blends effortlessly to create a flawless, almost natural base. There is no doubt that you'll find your ideal shade, especially for just £9.99!

I've mentioned this concealer so many times on this blog, so we'll keep this one pretty simple. The Naked Skin concealer by Urban Decay is my absolute favourite because it gives fantastic coverage that lasts all day without feeling heavy. I use the shade 'fair' which again is perfect for my skin tone and really brightens up my complexion. As its high end, it is on the more pricey side at £17,50. However, one tube of this lasts so long and the good quality makes it worth the money.

Lastly, for powder we go back to L'Oreal with the Infallible Matte Powder. In contrast to my glowy base, I like to use a a bit of mattifying primer to set everything in place. and even for a sheer amount of coverage. I'll mainly use it on the areas I applied my concealer and a lighter dusting of it where I applied foundation. Depending on how much you use, it won't hide the glow create by the previous three products.

There is my current base routine. I'm really happy with it because it creates a flawless, glowy, natural looking base to brighten up your skin during these winter months. These products have all become staples in my make up collection.

Have you tried any of these products? What do you use to create your perfect base?

Drugstore Favourites - Revolution Eyeshadow Palettes

Revolution is possibly the best drugstore beauty brand for eyeshadow palettes. The variety of palettes this brand has to offer is fantastic. As for the products themselves, the pigmentation is amazing. I currently have two revolution palettes in my collection...

The first one is an all-matte eyeshadow palette. This is the Ultra Eye Contour Light and Shade palette. If you haven't guessed from the packaging, the name and the shades, this is a dupe for the Kat Von D Shade and Light eyeshadow palette. I can't compare this directly because I don't own the Kat Von D palette, but so far I've really been enjoying the Revolution palette. I really like how the shades are separated into neutral, cool and warm shades because it makes it easy to create specific eyeshadow looks. The pigmentation is so good and therefore the product is really easy to blend.

The second eyeshadow palette is the Iconic Pro palette. I believe this is a dupe for the Smashbox Full Exposure palette. I love the warm tones of this palette, and its very satisfying to see a row of matte shades, and a row of shimmery shades. Using this palette, you can create countless looks with a warm undertone. so I get to carry a bit of my favourite season all year round. As I mentioned with the previous palette, the formula is very pigmented and easy to blend.

I would highly recommend Revolution if you're looking for affordable palettes that you can create a variety of looks with. I think they're so worth it.

What are your favourite drugstore eyeshadow palettes?
