Autumn Florals

Autumn is the season where comfort and fashion go hand in hand, with the return of jumpers and cosy knits. This jumper from New Look captures that perfectly, and has become a firm favourite in my A/W 2016 wardrobe.

The first thing your eyes will probably be drawn to is the gorgeous floral embroidery. I love the way it falls down from the left shoulder and there's a smaller patch of floral on the sleeve. The print itself is quite girly and is a nice contrast to the sporty, baggy fit of the jumper. The colours really stand out against the black fabric. Embroidery is a popular trend this season and I think this is a great take on it.

Paired with black ripped jeans (Topshop Jamie Jeans) and burgundy ballet pumps (Primark), this is a great smart casual outfit. In fact, when I wore this to college I received quite a few compliments! I also like to wear this jumper with blue jeans and brown suede boots for a softer look. Lastly, on my lips is the Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipstick in Leo which matches my shoes and adds a classic autumn colour to tie the whole look together.

It feels so good to be putting up an outfit post, especially during my favourite season. Do you like Autumn/Winter fashion?

Sleek 'Solstice' Highlighting Palette

If you're a fan of highlighter, you may have seen the Sleek palettes circling round the internet recently. In fact, after seeing this on Instagram I bought it on my next trip to Superdrug. This is the Solstice highlighting palette and I'm obsessed with it...

First up, the shade range in this palette is ridiculously pretty.. As you can see, there are four shades with one of them being a creamy formula, two baked highlighters and one smooth, silky formula.

Ecliptic is a pale pink cream highlighter which is great for a more natural 'glow from within' look. Sometimes I like to use this as an eyeshadow base or on its own to really make my eyes pop. The second shade, Hemisphere, is a baked mixture of pale pink, lavender and white. It's so beautiful! Next you have Subsolar which is a classic champagne shade and flattering for everyone, it's very smooth and possibly the easiest to work with. Lastly, Equinox is a baked warm rose pink with a pearly finish. This palette can work for all skin tones, but I find that these highlighters are quite light and suit my pale skin more than golden/bronze highlighters or icy, cool toned ones.

Sleek is known to have highly pigmented products at an affordable price, and this palette is no exception. A little goes a long way with every one of these shades. and they are really long lasting. . You can really go to town and create a flash of light, or keep it simple with a natural glow. Sleek recommends using Ecliptic on the brow bone, Hemisphere on along the top of the cheekbones, Subsolar down the bridge of your nose and Equinox on the cupids bow. But honestly, the shades can work anywhere. It's such a fun palette to experiment with and see what works with certain eye looks, lip colours etc.

To finish, the beautiful rose gold packaging makes this palette every blogger's dream and perfect for pictures.

Overall, I would highly recommend this palette to any highlighter fan out there. If you're not a fan of the shade range, Sleek has three other palettes to choose from like the golden tones of Cleopatra's Kiss, or the icy colours in the Midas Touch palette. But for £10, I think any of the Sleek highlighting palettes are great value for money.

Have you tried any of the Sleek highlighting palettes?

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette

This is a review on one of my favourite beauty purchases of the year: the Naked Ultimate Basics eyeshadow palette by Urban Decay. As the name suggests, this is the latest addition to their Naked range and more specifically their Naked eyeshadow palettes, an old but cult beauty favourite! I picked this up the day it came out whilst shopping with a friend (she bought it too!), and now I feel ready to share my thoughts on it. You may be pleased to know they are all positive!

Starting of with how the palette looks, this palette consists of 12 eyeshadows, the standard amount in all Naked palettes. However, unlike the four previous palettes, this is a square shape rather than a rectangle. I think this is much easier to hold, and to carry around with you. The square mirror also means you can see your whole face when applying your make up instead of just your eyes. This makes it useful to travel with and even out your make-up. The smaller brush is also useful for patting on colour on one end, and blending on the other! The outside packaging is a gorgeous, Insta-worthy rose gold, and it feels pretty secure so there's no worries of the palette breaking. In terms of looks, I think this is the prettiest Naked palette so far!

But of course, you're not going to spend £38 on an eyeshadow palette if the quality isn't good. But this one certainly is! The shade range is ideal, with a mix of cool, warm and neutral shades to see you through all the seasons and suit any skin tone. They can also be used to create an endless amount of eyeshadow looks, natural to smoky. My and my friend often discuss what look we've put together when we see each other! 11 of these shades are matte, a big trend in 2016, with the first white eyeshadow having a hint of shimmer that is excellent for highlighting the inner corners or brow bone, or lightly brushing over the any of the matte shades. The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is excellent, and they feel so soft. Due to that, they are very easy to blend. However, it is recommended to use an eyeshadow primer to make the colours last even longer. Here are some swatches of each shade, with a description as well.

Blow - pale nude  // Nudie - nude pink // Commando - light taupe // Tempted - pale brown // Instinct - medium taupe // Lethal - burgundy//

Pre-game - pale yellow // Extra Bitter - burnt orange // Faith - medium warm brow // Lockout - neutral brown // Magnet - smoky grey (glitter is fallout from another product) // Blackout - warm black //

To summarise, I'm really happy with this palette. I've been searching for an all matte palette for ages, and although there may be cheaper ones available this is definitely worth the money. It's become one of my go to palettes for sure, as matte eye shadow can be as subtle as you want it to be.The shade range is fantastic and it's almost to pretty to use.  Another winner from my one of my favourite make up brands!

Let me know if you've tried the Ultimate Naked Basics Palette, or any of the other Naked palettes! What is your go-to eyeshadow palette?

Ways to Embrace Autumn

From what I've seen, it looks like Autumn is most beauty blogger's favourite season. For the Autumn lovers, we're all about the cosy clothes, colours that match the falling leaves and the crisp breeze in the air. However, this time of year might not be for everyone which is understandable if you love those hot summer days. Whether you're a fan of Autumn or not, there's not time like the present so I hope this post helps you embrace this season in some way! Just give it a try...

Embrace the fashion

Autumn is the perfect time to layer up and add new thing to your wardrobe. You can mix and match at this time of year between hot summer and freezing winter. Experiment with with the colours like khaki, burgundy, camel or cooler tones like grey and navy. It's also a great time to focus on basics like a good pair of jeans, jumpers of different thicknesses, checkered shirts and boots!

Embrace the beauty

You know what I mean by autumn beauty right? Dark lips of course! Burgundy lips come back around every year, but a brighter red or warm brown lip colour looks beautiful as well. As for eyes. it's the perfect time to wear a warm, smokey eyeshadow look or some bold winged liner. A pop of shimmer with a warm eyeshadow look makes me think of leaves and bonfires, which leads me on to my next point...

Embrace the natural beauty

Now that you're dressed for the season, try and see the colours that inspire the trends in real life. Living in the English countryside, I get to see the leaves changing colour all around me. I also love to wrap up warm and go for walks to see an endless landscape of greens, reds, browns, orange and yellow. The air is so fresh and crisp at this time of year. It's also the season where beautiful and warm bonfires are lit. If you'd rather stay inside, I hope you're lucky enough to have a fireplace so you can bring some of the Autumn nature indoors! Plus, listening to the rain whilst being all cosy at home is always relaxing.

Embrace the flavours

Another thing I love about Autumn is the spicy scents and flavours that make your mouth water. Cinamonn, ginger, caramel..you name it. I love freshly baked cinammon rolls, cookies and brownies that go perfectly with a warm cup of coffee or tea. It's all about those warm spicy flavours at this time of year. And yes, I do like Pumpkin Spiced Lattes!

Autumn/Winter Lipsticks 2016

It's October, it's Autumn and the dark lips are ready to come out until the end of Winter. Here are the favourites that I will be swapping between this time around...

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick - Leo

Despite being named after Kylie's star sign and the summery sign of Leo, this colour couldn't be more autumnal! It's a true maroon shade, perfect for fall time make up looks. The pigmentation is fantastic so it's definitely a statement colour. Go bold or go home with this one! Although it's a matte finish, it feels quite smooth on the lips and doesn't dry them out. Sadly, this was a limited edition colour for Kylie Jenner's birthday collection, but they're are countless drugstore brands that offer fantastic dupes such as Nyx and Sleek.

Sleek Lip VIP Lipstick - Show Off

Sleek have recently released new lipstick shades for Autumn/Winter and I am in love. They are for sure one of my top drugstore brands (ooh I have an idea for a blog post now, who wants to see my favourite drugstore brands?). Stepping away from a the deep tones of burgundy and maroon, this is also the perfect time of year to go for darker nudes. The shade 'Show Off' is a deep pink nude, and it's such a gorgeous colour for when you still want a darker colour but not as bold as red or burgundy. It's a semi-matte finish, which I love. Pair this lipstick with a bold winged liner and/ or a neutral eyeshadow look and you're good to go.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - Black Cherry

This one is a cult beauty favourite for many beauty bloggers, I picked it up last year and am happy to use it again. It's just a classic burgundy shade, and has a smooth, moisturising formula similar to Mac's creamsheen colours. Therefore, this is my glossy option and Leo is my matte option. It's very easy to build this colour up to how intense you want the colour, and you can always blot your lips with a tissue for a more mattifying finish. You can't go wrong with Black Cherry.

Here are some swatches! Top - Leo, Middle - Show Off, Bottom - Black Cherry.

Beauty Haul - Palettes!

This may be my favourite beauty haul yet. Two of these palettes are very autumnal, and one is just perfect for that glow. Here are the most recent palettes in my make up collection, described quite briefly because in-depth reviews are on their way!

The first palette here is very new in the beauty world. In fact, I picked it up the day it came out! I've been trying to find an all matte eyeshadow palette for a while, and treated myself to this beauty. This is the Naked Ultimate Basics palette, the latest offering from Urban Decay's Naked range. It contains 11 matte shades and one slightly shimmery white shade. They are so soft but pigmented, and the range of neutral, cool and warm tones make it perfect for any season and any skin tone. The rose gold packaging makes it even more appealing to beauty bloggers...too much is never enough.

Taking a break from eyes, this highlight palette is seriously stunning. This is the quite popular Solstice palette by Sleek. It's just too pretty to look at or use! There's one cream highlight and the following three are powders. The pigmentation is fantastic, and the cream highlight works so well as an eye-shadow base with the pink highlight shade on on top of it and in the crease. These colours are really nice on my fair skin tone, but if prefer more gold or darker shades check out the new Cleopatra's Kiss palette.

For the final palette we go back to eyeshadow and the Autumn vibes are REAL! The Iconic Pro palette by Make Up Revolution is like a dream. There is a row of matte shades and a row of shimmery shades so you can lose yourself in creating countless make up looks. They are very warm shades, perfect for my complexion but the could work for anyone. I was so surprised by how pigmented these shades are, the shimmery shades look stunning when the light catches them! I would highly recommend Make Up Revolution if you're looking for a cheap eyeshadow palette because the amount of fantastic dupes and original palettes they have is ridiculous.

Let me know if you've tried any of these products, or anything else you've bought recently.
