Thinking Positive #21

Life is full of incredible things. It works two ways; working hard and making an effort for the best to come is one way. The other way is just waiting or not expecting anything, because some of the best things happen by surprise!

Whenever you're having a bad day, going through a rough time, or something goes wrong, remember that the best is yet to come. By surprise, or by making an effort to make your life better. Also, by focusing your energy on positive things, you can ensure that the best things will be on their way. Find something to look forward to, or make something happen!

Have a wonderful week. We're heading towards February already! I hope it's been a great month for you, and that the best yet to come.

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

A few weeks ago my mum surprised me with a little beauty present, the Gifted Amazonian Clay mascara from Tarte cosmetics. I've heard many good things about this brand so I was excited to give it a try. I believe that mum ordered this from the UK shopping channel QVC.

It definitely did not disappoint. This mascara lengthens, separates and gives volume to my lashes so well. Some mascaras can look dry on my lashes, but this one doesn't. It lasts all day without flaking or smudging. However, you can also reapply throughout the day without your lashes looking clumpy. Lastly, can we just admire the packaging? It's so unique. I would love to repurchase it.

From this mascara and all the fantastic things I've heard about Tarte, it seems like a really goof quality brand with amazing packaging! Have you ever tried anything from Tarte?

Thinking Positive - #20

Welcome to the first Thinking Positive post of 2015. If you are new, I share a positive quote followed by a little message every Sunday, ahead of a new week. Living in a positive frame of mind makes you happy and more motivated. This is the first one of a new year, so let's make it a good one!

This is something I've always known, but hadn't really learnt this until the end of 2014. It stood out to me this week, too. Staying true to you and being yourself is so important, and is the best way to make friends.

Admiring and taking inspiration from others is absolutely fine, I do it everyday. However, it’s not okay to completely copy them or to not feel comfortable being your own person. If you find yourself struggling to fit in and be happy, take a step back and think. Maybe it’s time for a change.

It's so important to spend time with people you bring out the best in you, and who make you feel comfortable in your own skin. No matter how long you've known them, real friends will love you for being yourself. If you be yourself, the right people will follow. Feeling happy with the right people around you will motivate you and inspire you to be yourself just like they are. If being yourself is not enough, then they are not worth it.

Let your personality shine through. Have a great week!

Winter Essentials - Coat and Boots

Every season comes with its fashion staples. Spring and Summer bring out the shorts, dresses and lighter materials. Then there's Autumn and Winter where we warm up in jumpers, coats and boots. I love both parts of the year but seeing as we're in Winter, I'm going to be showing you two fashion essentials for me (and most people I assume): the coat and the boots! Before I go on, both these items happen to be from the same shop but this post is not sponsored! Over the last few months, my style has been turning into a more casual, capsule wardrobe with simple pieces that you can mix and match. However, still keeping a feminine, Taylor Swift-like, style throughout. I'm fine with that!

This coat is from Red Herring at Debenhams. I've never had a coat like this before, probably the smartest coat I've worn, but I like the change! I think it's quite sophisticated and reminds me of Taylor Swift (who is one of my style icons). The print and colours are perfect for the season, too. It fits comfortably and keeps me warm, which is the most important part!

The boots are from Faith at Debenhams; and if you've read my Christmas haul post, you'll know I received them as a gift. They're smart yet casual. The fact that they're black means they can go with anything from jeans to dresses, so I will definitely be wearing these repeatedly! They fit well and are pretty sturdy so they're fine to walk in. Chunky socks poking out at the top looks good with them too. Hopefully, these boots will see me through to next winter as well.

Christmas may be over, but we still have the rest of Winter ahead of us. It's important to feel good (and warm!) at this time where the New Year rolls around. What are your Winter essentials?

What I Got For Christmas 2014

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and celebrated the New Year. This is my Christmas Haul, 2014! I didn't make a list or anything this year because this Christmas was more focused on spending time with my loved ones. However, these gifts are a pleasant surprise and I’m very happy with them. The usual disclaimer, I promise I’m not bragging, I’m simply sharing what I got for Christmas!

We’ll start with beauty first…
How cool is this box? This is the biggest box of beauty products ever, ha-ha. As you can see, this is from Soap and Glory and comes with Hand Food, Heel Genius, Clean on Me (body wash), The Scrub of your Life (body scrub), The Righteous Butter (body butter);  as well as a scunchie and cosy socks! I also got a mini Butter Yourself body butter and Sexy Mother pucker lip gloss! The smaller box is from Joules and the packaging is so pretty, I really like the colours! This set includes a body wash, body lotion, body butter (blue lid) and body scrub (purple lid). Lastly, there is a body set from Jack Wills which includes body wash and lotion. I think it’s safe to say I’ll be very clean for a while!I also got this set of nail stuff from OPI with three nail polishes, a glass file, had cream and nail strengthener. Two more additions to my nail polishes are these amazing set from Leighton Denny, purple and sparkly purple! Lastly, I got a couple of dry shampoos from Colab by Ruth Crilly (A Model Recommends) which launched earlier this year and was quite popular within the blog/YouTube world. My ones are London and Paris.

Moving on to fashion (sort of)…
One of my favourite presents, these beautiful boots from Faith at Debenhams. It was about time for a new pair of boots and I’m very happy with these. I've seen these hair ties around and have never actually bought any, but I got some as a gift! There really cool and I’ll be wearing them a lot. I also got a couple of pairs of socks to got with my boots, a bow for my hair and a little mirror.

Finishing this haul with other bits and pieces…
Every Christmas I get a calendar for the next year and a note pad. This year had a city theme, with a glitzy New York calendar and a pretty Paris note pad. I also got a mirror which can light up if you want it to, a very useful present! I’m sure you know what Girl Online is. Zoella released her first book this year and it was one of my Christmas presents! I’m looking forward to reading this in the New Year.

So that’s all for my Christmas haul. Look out for some posts on some of these items/products in greater detail. What did you get for Christmas?

Happy New Year!

Completely forgot to upload this post, I thought it was scheduled. Oops! 2014 was a year like no other for me with lots of changes, good and bad. The Red Tour, loss and welcoming a little brother into the world, turning 16, going to Berlin. I'm grateful to have such amazing friends and family around me everyday. Here's to the new year, a fresh start with new challenges, new possibilities and new memories.

Happy new year!
