My Spotify Playlists

Ever since I've joined Spotify I've really enjoyed creating and finding playlists that suit whatever mood I'm in. Here are a few of my favourites, and you're more than welcome to follow them.

Pink Emoji's Playlist

This is one for the girls, or anyone that needs a bit of a confidence boost! It's basically a playlist full of inspirational songs by some of my favourite female artists. From Beyonce's anthems like Run The World (Girls) and Flawless, to slightly more emotional songs Skyscraper by Demi Lovato, or Little Me by Little Mix. Whenever I'm feeling down or anxious, I'll put this playlist on and it'll help me rise above any negative thoughts I might have. Listen to this in the morning and you'll be ready to slay all day. Girl power.

Sleepy

If the previous playlist was for the morning, then this is certainly one for the evening. This is my sleepy/chill playlist, full of gentle, mostly songs to help me wind down in the evenings. Expect a bit of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Emeli Sande and Shawn Mendes to name a few. It's the perfect playlist to join you when you're reading, scrolling through tumblr or getting ready or bed. I also appreciate this playlist when I'm feeling overwhelmed or stressed as it's quite relaxing.

Hot Hits UK

This is a ready-made playlist by Spotify, and it's updated every Friday with the top 50 songs in the UK. I confess that I do listen to chart/pop music, so this is a great way to find what's new and enjoy the music that's huge right now. It's a good getting ready playlist or one for when you don't know what to listen to.

Do you have or follow any Spotify playlists? What music do you listen to?

Eyeliner Tips and Tricks

After the summer I always bring eyeliner back into my daily make-up routine. Eyeliner is something that can be very hard to master, to pick up again after not using it for a while. Now I'm back into the swing of things, I thought I would put together some tips for nailing eyeliner.

Since going back to college I've recieved quite a few compliments for my eyeliner so I must be doing something right! Most of the time is a small, subtle cat eye like Taylor Swift's signature look. However, I also love Jade Thirlwall's (Little Mix) eyeliner because it's a bit bolder.

1. Pick the right eyeliner for you.

There are several types of eyeliner out there; gel, liquid, felt tip, or even pencil. You can chose whatever you prefer. I personally like felt tip eyeliner pens because it allows you to have more control with you application, and it's easy to create the right wing for you. Gel liner is great for a bolder look that is really long-lasting, whereas pencil/kohl liner can be used for a more natural or smoky look. Here are some of my favourites:

2. Colour

If black eyeliner is too harsh, brown eyeliner is much more subtle. If you have fair skin like me, you may find it suits you more than black (even though I still use black anyway!). Grey is also a nice alternative to black. And if you're feeling bold, there are plenty of brands that sell different coloured eyeliners to really make your eyes pop! Check out NYX or Benefit.

3. The tape trick

One of the tips you may have heard of is to put tape stick tape or a sticky note from the outer corner of your eye to the end of your brow. Draw the liner across your eyelid and then use the tape to perfect a nice, sharp wing. It honestly saves my liner from looking uneven. Just make sure you do this before your face make up so that doesn't come of!

4. Look forward and keep a steady hand.

To create the most even wings, it's best to look towards the mirror instead of up,down or diagonal! Try to keep your hand as still as possible, one way to help this is to rest your pinky on your cheek to keep your balance, or not griping the pen too tightly!

5. Take your time.

Eyeliner is one of those things that can't be rushed, your much more likely to mess up! Take your time draw your eyeliner precisely and efficiently, Practice and patience are crucial, if you know you don't have time in the mornings for eyeliner, it's probably best to avoid it all together! A quick line of pencil over the lid and smudged out will do.

6. Draw the outline then fill in the shape you want.

Another way to create your desired shape is to draw a thin outline away from your eyelid then fill in the gaps. This is easiest with a felt tip liner.

7. Flatter your eye shape

Just one false move with eyeliner can make it unflattering for your eye shape. Make sure your wing is in line with the outer corner of your eye. You can find  guides like this which have examples for all eye shapes.

Six Tips for Surviving College

Right now I'm starting my second year at college and I know for some it will be their first year! The jump from school can be quite daunting - a lot more of it is down to you and the freedom can be just as good as it is overwhelming. I thought I'd share what I've learnt from my first year of college, and what others have learnt. It might be nicer to hear it from people who understand just how you're feeling!

1. Put the effort in!

You may have heard that A-Levels are significantly harder than GCSE's. I hate to break it to you, but it's true. I've heard so many people say they barely revised for they're GCSE's and still passed, but with A Levels it's not so easy. Depending on what course you take, A-Levels require more knowledge about theories and deeper understanding, and there is more work for fewer subjects compare to over 10 subjects at GCSE. Start revising and keep on top of your work as soon as you can to avoid falling behind!

2. Build a capsule college wardrobe.

If you're not going to sixth form you'll probably have the freedom of not wearing uniform. Therefore, it would be wise to build a capsule wardrobe of things that are easy to mix and match. Stock up on basic items and throw in a few things that are suited to your style. Wear things that you feel comfortable in and it'll be easy to dress for college.

3. Be organised

This is one of the most important points I could make. You know the drill - give yourself enough time to get ready, have the right rescourses with you for each day, prepare things the night before to make mornings run more smoothly. These may not seem like much, but falling into bad habits just leads to unnecessary stress.

4. Be yourself

Being sorrounded by so many new people can be intimidating, especially if you're more shy and socially awkward. By all means be open to meeting new people, but don't fall into the trap of trying to act a certain way to impress them. Be yourself and you will attract the people who are right for you. People will really get to know YOU and may even become your closest friends. Go at your own pace and don't compare other people's progress to your own.

5. Learn to adjust to change.

When people get separated by going to different colleges, there are several ways in which your life will change. The work gets harder, you may lose or gain new friends and you have a lot more control of what you do. But if you're aware of the changes that are going on, accept and try to move with them.

6. Manage your free time wisely!

If your college is like mine, you will have more free time in your timetable. They're officially called 'study periods', but students tend to use the term 'frees'! But jokes aside, it is so much more beneficial if you get work done when you need to, and when the time is given to you. Then you will have more free time after school & at the weekend without falling behind. However, if you have no work or honestly just need a break and/or want to socialise, it's up to you what you do with your time.

I hope you found this post useful, or know someone who might benefit from reading this. Leave you own advice for starting college in the comments!

6 Songs That Make Me Happy

I was sitting down the other day with my music on shuffle and it inspired me to write a post about songs that make me smile as soon as they play. I didn't even need to think about what as songs as they all popped into my head naturally.

The Wanted - Glad You Came

This was the song that came on shuffle that instantly made me write this post! I was the biggest fan on The Wanted since I was 12, and although they're not together now, I still support all the boys and love them all to pieces at nearly 18. So whenever I hear this song, the song that made me a fan, it instantly makes me smile and reminds of the memories with the boyband that saw me through my teenage years! It's more than just a party song to me haha.

Little Mix - Black Magic

There is no better song to lift you up when you're feeling a bit down. Black Magic is just such a fun, catchy song the brightens up my day. I'm a huge huge fan of the girls and let me tell you, this song is even more energetic live!

Beyonce - Flawless

Now, this song makes me happy because it literally makes me feel like I can conquer anything. It makes me feel happy AND confident. Flawless is so sassy and empowering, just like the Queen Bey herself. The remix featuring Nicki Minaj takes it to a whole other level. GIRL POWER.

Shawn Mendes - Never Be Alone

I've only become a fan of Shawn Mendes this year, his songs are beautiful and he seems like such a humble guy, plus he's only the same age as me! Anyway, this song has to be my favourite because the music is so calming and the lyrics are so cute. Complete contrast to the last song I mentioned, but provokes a a different kind of happiness.

Jess Glynne - Gave Me Something

For my holiday to Weymouth this year and last year, my family had Jess Glynne's album pretty much on repeat, and it was this song inparticular that had us singing at the top of our lungs. It's a very loud, soulful and uplifting song.

Ellie Goulding - How Long Will I Love You

The lyrics are absolutley beautiful and Ellie Goulding's voice sounds so gentle. It's the song that features in the film About Time, which is one of my favourite films.

This post was completely random but I really hoped you enjoyed it! What are six songs that make you happy?
